Planning your proposal
When Sage contacted me for location ideas in June, I knew of the perfect place! I mean the Bridger Mountains and wildflowers? Come on!
This location is a favorite of mine but pretty short lived, these flowers are really only in bloom for a few weeks. At the foothills on the BRidger mountains we have a short season for everything really. We had perfect timing for their trip and his plans to propose. I helped him plan a picnic and where to stand etc. I am there to help advise on all aspects of surprise proposals! For this proposal I brought my husband along as a decoy and to pack the champagne and glasses in his own bag. So there we are pretending to take photos of Martin and trying to completely ignore my couple. Waiting for the signal that he was ready is so nerve wracking! I have 2 cameras ready one with my 70-200mm and another with my 35mm ready for wide storytelling shots and zoomed in close ups. Heart thumping – probably for all of us as the moment happened!
He signaled me he was ready (all pre planned) and then got down on one knee. I fire away during this time, not wanting to miss a second. Eventually Jessie sees me, which is totally fine at this point and more laughter and happy tears. It is truly so fun to be part of! The joy is contagious, if only I could bottle this for everyone to enjoy. Of course we also had their adorable and so well behaved pup – Sadie! She was so excited and happy it was like she knew what was going on? We barely needed treats or toys to get her to pose, a total dream to work with Sadie.

My proposal sessions work like this – you have me for an hour. I photograph your proposal then we spend the rest of the hour doing portraits! We often pop some champagne or do a little toast with a Montana brew, whatever your style is. The thing is, I can really help you plan anything; picnics, chilled bubbly, maybe a videographer, flowers, who knows!
