Sage Lodge Wedding in Paradise Valley Montana

As a destination wedding + elopement photographer, I am happy to travel to so many amazing places but Sage Lodge is still one of my favorites! The best part is, it’s only an hour drive from Bozeman so not too much traveling for us. Sage is also one of the premier wedding venues in southwest Montana. This is not some “roughing it” destination, this is refined luxury. With 2 restaurants, a spa, several event options and well appointed houses and rooms make your stay here so memorable. Did I mention the amazing views of the Absaroka Range (Emigrant Peak in the photo below) and Gallatin Range plus the Yellowstone River to the west? Seriously, some of the best views in Montana!

Intimate Wedding at Sage Lodge

Natalie + Sam put together such a thoughtful, beautiful and intimate wedding day. One of our favorite details were the hand painted cookies from Secret Garden Cookie Company in Bozeman. The cookies featured native Montana flowers, skiing and motorcycle adventures and even their pup, Cody! So well done and these actually taste amazing too! Our couple loves Montana and adventuring outdoors from skiing to dirt biking and a passion for mountain trail running! They live life to the fullest in a way that I can only admire. Right down to their custom designed, Montana sapphire rings, every details was just so “them”. Sam crafted some amazing steel bottle openers for their welcome bags for guests, so cool!

The houses at Sage Lodge made the perfect place for the couples to get ready with their their closest friends and family. An open and simply decorated space like this is so crucial for getting ready details and portraits. We were inspired by the wooden built-ins throughout the cabins and incorporated them in our details photos. The couple chose to do a more private first look and personal vow reading. We stayed at a distance and photographed only with telephoto lenses to give them privacy. It was so cool how these vows were only for them and private. I have not seen that before and I really dug how personal it was.

After their ever so sweet, first look and private vows we took our adventurous couple up a trail for more scenic views. It was perhaps the most beautiful summer day we saw in 2021! In late summer you never know know how smokey it can be but it cleared out just for these two!

Yellowstone River View

Their ceremony took place on the Yellowstone River View lawn at Sage Lodge. They offer several location options for ceremonies and this is not one to be overlooked. With the Yellowstone River and Gallatin mountains as their background they shared some simple vows with their loved ones. It was a bit windy that day and we all laughed as Natalie’s veil went flying and as her dad walked her down the aisle and again during their first kiss.

*Look for the photo we caught of the actual moment it flew off and her sister caught it! I nerd out over photos like that*

Congrats Natalie + Sam! (and Cody too!) Wishing you all the best adventures.

UPDATE: We are thrilled to share that this wonderful wedding was featured in Montana Bride Magazine!
